I started playing the flute in the 5th grade. I continued playing through middle school and high school, during which in 2001 I had my first experience as an apprentice while working at a local music store in Manchester, NH. I decided to take this interest further and attended Western Iowa Tech where I earned an Associated Degree in the Applied Science of Band Instrument Repair. Upon completion of my degree, I returned to the local music store for a couple years, honing my skills in all band instruments. I have spent the past 17 years working at Powell Flutes, being the Repair Manager and sole Technician. In 2024 I completed a course to be a certified Muramatsu Technician as well. I have learned a lot about the nuances of high end flutes, and the personal responsibility needed to be a flute repair technician of the highest caliber. Being a great technician comes with experience not just attending a class, and Iām so proud to have evolved and practiced the craft for so long. The dedication to strive for perfection in providing a player with the best responding instrument, while being able to play and put flutes through rigorous play testing. I have been repairing on my own throughout this time and am happy to offer my services to the flute community.
